EPIC STORYTELLING IMAGE

4 day Illustration Masterclass
with MU PAN
November 19–22, 2020
Vienna/Austria

In this masterclass with Mu Pan, you will delve into the world of epic storytelling images. Looking at the epic work through history, such as Tibetan tanka, Flemish master pieces, Indian miniature painting, or Japanese nishiki-E with their grand, epic compositions, battle scenes, dramatic actions, and large groups of multiple figures, you will explore the traditions and analyze the design strategies used by the grand masters. Using only simple materials—paper, drawing supplies and aqueous media (watercolor, gouache, acrylic)—you will then reinvent your own modern masterpiece with storytelling, and create an epic image on any kind of subject you prefer, based on your own influences from art history, literature, film, myth, and even fantasy.
